Little plugins updates policy improvement
This is a small refinement to the major plugins updates policy update introduced in June.
As has often been explained, the main reason leading to that change has been to bring equity between the development/maintenance burden and customer privileges.
The current system has been a great step ahead, laying the foundations for the future. However, considering the LCweb Shop subscriptions-based model, tying updates to the original license purchase date led to inequities between the amount spent and the benefits.
What changes
Starting from today the product versions availability is tied to the support entitlement plus an additional year of guaranteed updates.
Therefore, renewing the LCweb Shop licenses, you will now have two additional years of updates compared to the single year you had before.
Let’s look at an example to help you understand.
You have license purchased in August 2024:
- by default you have guaranteed updates until August 2025
- with the June policy, renewing the LCweb Shop license in August 2025, you will have guaranteed updates until August 2026
- starting from now you will have guaranteed updates until August 2027 (two years since your last payment)
